€100,000 will be invested with the focus primarily on solutions based on green technology and the circular economy but also on educational technologies and data-based decision support tools.
Entries are invited for the €100,000 innovation competition Tallinnovation, organised in cooperation between the City of Tallinn and the research and business town Tehnopol.
The aim of the project is to find smart city solutions that make the city’s services and environment more comfortable for both residents and visitors.
Greentech and circular economy
Joosep Vimma, deputy mayor of Tallinn, said new ideas as well as working alternatives to the solutions already in use are welcome for the competition.
“The focus is primarily on solutions based on green technology and the circular economy, but also on the development of various educational technologies and data-based decision support.
“Since there are a lot of companies with good ideas, we decided to double the total amount of the innovation fund this year. We also doubled the maximum support rate for one company”
“The Tallinnovation competition is taking place for the third year in a row, and since there are a lot of companies with good ideas, we decided to double the total amount of the innovation fund this year. We also doubled the maximum support rate for one company.”
Companies registered in Tallinn can participate in the innovation competition. Those submitting ideas have the opportunity to receive financial support, pilot their project, receive contacts, advice and resources from the city of Tallinn, and use the support of the Tehnopol mentor network.
“We support companies that create innovation with new knowledge, practical experience and a wide network of contacts,” said Indrek Orava, a member of the board of Tehnopol. “In addition, the Tallinnovation competition also provides financial support, which is often essential for the implementation of market-ready ideas.”
Four winners were selected for the 2021 Tallinnovation competition:
Thinnect sensors provides an overview of traffic and noise levels in the area, improving traffic safety
KrattWorks offers drones with a special solution for law enforcement, rescue and firefighting operations
Mypak Solutions offers an innovative repackaging recycling service.
Ideas requiring both financial and non-financial contributions are expected, such as testing of e-solutions and data collection. The deadline for submissions is 15 September 2022. City of Tallinn said the benefit of submitting an idea early is the opportunity to complete your application and receive additional information based on feedback. Tehnopol, one of the largest research and business cities in Scandinavia, aims to contribute to the emergence and growth of technology-changing tech companies in Estonia and to support their expansion into foreign markets.
