Museum of the Future installs electric vehicle charging
The iconic museum in Dubai has installed 21 units in parking bays, with stations connected to the Shabik mobile app that gives users endless access to the electric vehicle charging network.
The Museum of the Future in Dubai is installing an electric vehicle charging solution to support its sustainability initiatives.
The museum has installed 21 EVBox Elvi units in the parking bays and the stations are connected to the Shabik mobile app, which gives users endless access to the EV charging network.
E-mobility solutions
The museum partnered with charging solutions provider and consulting company Volt.ae which selected EVBox and Catec Mobility for the project. Catec is EVBox’s charging station distributor in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.
It aims to lead the development of end-to-end e-mobility solutions, including a network of EV charging infrastructure and a digital EV charging platform to support the government and the organisations in the UAE and the Middle East on their e-mobility journey.

The installation aligns with the museum’s mission to “showcase the future”. The museum is housed in a circular, futuristic building in the emirate that is distinct from the high-rise skylines around it. Designed by architect Killa Design, the circular building represents humanity, the green mound it sits on top of represents the earth and the void in the middle represents the unknown future.
The museum combines elements of exhibition, immersive theatre and themed attractions. Each floor seeks to be like a film set from a future that visitors can inhabit, explore and interact with.
Founded in 2010, EVBox provides flexible and scalable electric vehicle charging solutions, including ultra-fast charging stations, as well as scalable charging management software. It is backed by energy company Engie and has research and development facilities across Europe and North America.
