Hydrogen is a highly flexible fuel. That is why the UN’s climate change body, the UNFCCC, believes hydrogen could meet up to 20% of global energy demand by 2050 . The time has come for Spain and Portugal to step forward: they are uniquely positioned to start producing green hydrogen at scale. Spanish and Portuguese green hydrogen would be less than a quarter of the cost of traditionally-produced “grey hydrogen”, which is made by splitting natural gas molecules and causes CO2 emissions.
